Lake Como

Lake Como is a renowned tourist destination for the natural beauty of its setting and for the handsome liberty villas and historical buildings on its shores. Nowadays though it’s more famous for having George Clooney amongst it’s residents.  There’s plenty to see , apart from George, if you like to explore the area, such as the  Archaeological Museum with artefacts dating as far back as ancient Greek times , and the Museum of Giuseppe Garibaldi . leader of the movement that united Italy in the mid-1800s.  Among the many well  known  lakeside resorts are Como, Lecco, Bellagio, Tremezzo, Menaggio, and Varenna, most of which are connected by steamer.  Not to be missed is a ride on the fantastic funicular train that scales the mountain,  stopping at Brunate. From there the most magnificent view of the city of Como and the Lake await you.

The Dolomites

The Dolomites are extraordinary mountains, a collection of exceptional geological features unique in the world and Natural World Heritage site featuring  some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes anywhere, with vertical walls, sheer cliffs and a high density of narrow, deep and long valleys.  They are renowned for skiing in the winter months and mountain climbing, hiking, cycling, and BASE jumping, as well as paragliding and hang gliding in summe, late spring and early autumn . The  town of Cortina D’ampezzo, one of Italy’s most famous ski resorts is also located there. The Dolomites are clean, safe , welcoming and ideal for families with plenty of family-friendly locations and activities, and enough variety to keep  everyone happy.
